KTM supermoto conversion – parts list and steps

A supermoto conversion turns an enduro or motocross bike into a street-capable machine with 17-inch wheels and road tyres. At the same time the bike gets a bigger front brake disc and better-suited gearing. KTM is one of the most popular bases for the conversion, and this guide lists all the parts you need.

Parts list

  • Wheels: 17x3.50 front wheel and 17x4.25 or wider 17x5.00 rear wheel.
  • Front brake disc: 320 mm floating brake disc and 69 mm adapter, which moves the caliper to fit the larger disc.
  • Rear brake disc: 220 mm.
  • Rear sprocket: 45-tooth rear sprocket.
  • Spacers: front 22 mm and rear 20 mm as standard.
  • Tyres: 17-inch supermoto or road tyres to match the rim width.
  • Tubeless (recommended): a tubeless kit removes inner tubes and makes tyre changes faster.

Wheel set or parts separately?

The KTM supermoto wheel set includes, in addition to the wheels, a 320 mm brake disc with adapter, a 45T rear sprocket, a 220 mm rear brake disc and spacers. The set costs €800, while the same parts bought separately cost €861.70.

If you already have suitable discs and a sprocket, the wheels only (€650) are enough. The parts are also available separately: 320 mm brake disc and adapter, 220 mm rear brake disc and 45T rear sprocket.

Fitment

  • 320 mm brake disc and adapter: new KTM 125–530 cc models.
  • 45T rear sprocket: KTM 125–990 cc models, model years 1998–2026.
  • 220 mm rear brake disc: KTM, Husqvarna and Husaberg EXC, XC-W, SX, TE and TX models.

If your bike needs a 26 mm front spacer or you are unsure about fitment, send the make, model and year to sturdyracingfi@gmail.com.

Conversion step by step

  1. Choose the rear rim width to suit your tyre (17x4.25 or 17x5.00). Read more in our guide How to choose supermoto wheels.
  2. Choose a wheel set or the wheels only.
  3. Add a tubeless kit – it is 10% off when bought in the same order as the wheels. See Tubeless conversion for supermoto.
  4. Fit the discs, sprocket and tyres, and check chain tension and brake function before riding.

Want your own colours? With the custom wheel set you choose the colours of the rims, hubs, spokes and nipples yourself.
